I know I promised pictures, but the day got really crazy, and I just couldn't get to it. I just didn't want to let the day pass without noting on here that I did intend to, but I just wasn't able. Tomorrow? I hope so. Only time will tell.

Time after time...

I swear I have a tendency to get lost in life and I forget to post on my bloggety blog, but I keep coming back to my happy little place to record my comings and goings. So I am back, and I promise (myself at least) that I am back on a more regular basis, instead of my sporadic posts with too much time passing in between. I have some projects I have completed, as well as some that I am working on. A little girls play kitchen, reupholstering  parsons dining chairs, putting a new tabletop on my pedestal, and a few more things to boot. Will post again tomorrow with some pictures. :)

My first build project coming soon!

I have been wanting to start building things on my own so that I no longer have to rely on hubby to get around to doing things... and I settled on building a wastebasket for my bathroom. It is wooden and a little larger than your standard bathroom wastebasket, but to be honest, I HATE those tiny restroom wastebaskets that have no lid and then anyone who comes to visit and uses the bathroom sees all that ickiness! So my wastebasket will have a hinged lid as well. I am about halfway done, and I am trying to take pics along the way, but always forget, so forgive me if when I post the pics they aren't as detailed as they should be. Wish me luck on completion! Here are some inspiration pictures that I used to come up with my plan for my wastebasket.

IM ALIVE!

It has been nearly an entire year since I last posted anything on my blog. I got very busy as I enrolled in school full time and plan on going for my masters in Occupational Therapy. I hope to work with kids if possible. However, I am back, and pray that I find the time to post daily. I am still attempting to make changes to the house but have been having a difficult time doing so financially. So not very much has changed around the house, but I will post a few changes soon. It feels good to be back.

SOOOOO my daughter is now telling me that she is not sure about the green and pink. Jeez. Good thing all I have been able to do so far was a freaking box. lol. I think since I am going all shabby chic I will go that route in her room too. YAY! I think it will be beautiful. Stay tuned for a new mood board for her room. :) woot woot!

omg omg omg omg omg!!! I have completely changed my whole idea on how I want my house to look. I have seen so many beautiful rooms that look well loved and comfortable, and just HOME-Y! I am completely in love with Shabby Chic! I mean look at this beautiful sofa!

Could anything look comfier than that!? This sofa is of a price that I could never ever afford over at cottagechicstore.com. I know with my kids it may be impossible to go white.. so I may try an off white or linen or something like that... I dont know. I am just dying to cozy up with a book on a sofa like that! Gina at The Shabby Chic Cottage found this one at rooms to go, but for some reason I can not seem to find it on the website! grrrrr. I will be patiently waiting for lovely miss Gina to kindly tell me the name so i can harrass my local rooms to go about it..

Oh and if you take the time to check out the loveliness at cottage chic store, you will see why if I EVER EVER EVER can afford to... I will have them come redecorate my home for me. I am pretty sure that I could never in a million years come up with anything so absolutely lovely as what they have to offer on their website. I just love them. ::sigh:: ( daydreaming about all the lovely things I want...)

Sit back and relax

I just finished reupholstering this beautiful Ethan Allen Wingback chair. I used a shantung in "Spa Blue". After I put all the fabric on I put on nailhead trim. I think it looks beautiful. I am now going to sell it. :) I would keep it but it would only be mistreated by my kids. I would be so upset if anything got on it!

I have decided

I have been in search of a sofa set for my living room. My current set is in DIRE need of replacement. Between the kids and the dog... well the poor things are set to be put out to pasture. Not to mention we bought these when we were in an apartment and they just do not fit in the current space. SO, we will be purchasing new ones.

I am absolutely in love with the Classic English Roll Arm from Restoration Hardware. BUT I am not in love with the price. Nor can I find anything close enough to it with a small enough price tag.

I love the color though, and am opting for this lovely sofa that is much more in my price range. If I wanted the whole set I could get it for less than the price of just the one sofa. I am mostly interested in the sofa and love seat. These are located at Star Furniture here in Houston. The name is Walden Khaki. I love em. Can NOT wait to get them in my house. OH and did I mention we are tearing out a LOAD BEARING wall in the living room? Lets hope the house doesnt come crashing down around us.. We HAVE hired professionals, so it should go smoothly. Now I just need to find a rug, a nice floor lamp or two.. and maybe a few other things... :)

I wish I wish...

I wish I actually had some readers right about now. Then I could ask for opinions about what to do to my table. I love love love my pedestal table, and am planning on painting it white. .BUT I keep seeing the white bottom with the top being either stained wood or painted dark... I cant decide! I am literally losing sleep over it! I really want to get started on it. oh blogland gods please help me!

Cakety Cake

Soooooo.... I thought I would show off some of my cake baking and decorating skills and post a few cakes I have made in the past. Let me know what you think!

I made this one for my daughter Adriannas 2nd bday, hence the big 2 at the top.

This one is for my daughter Evelyns 8th bday. She is completely obsessed with Twilight. She watches the movies, she reads the books, and she has all the merch. She is def team Jacob btw. Now before anyone judges me, my daughter is highly intelligent and mature for an 8 year old. I get told all the time she is like an adult in an 8 yr olds body. I am trying to embrace this instead of going crazy. So keep any negative comments to yourself. Thanks!

Isn't she just a cutie? Now tell me why my 8 yr old says things like perhaps, and apparently.... I don't know other 8 year olds that talk with that kind of vocabulary. She is currently reading The Lightning Thief. That book is big.

This cake was made for a friends mom. It's so cute!

My baby girl Adri's very 1st Birthday cake! her party was cupcake themed. I made all the decorations myself. I will find the pictures I promise!

Evelyns 7th bday cake. It was luaua themed, so the pig with the apple was too perfect to pass up! Yummy yummy yum!

Now before I entered blog land I had already done a few furniture makeovers. I thought I would post those for your viewing enjoyment. Forgive me for not taking alot of pictures. I was not yet familiar with blog land and all. There are not before pics, as I was not yet into doing the before/after visuals.

I painted this for my daughters room. It came out so darling! I used Krylon Spray Paint in Watermelon. LOVE this color! I had to sand it really well. I used a palm sander and a few loose sheets of sand paper to get into the nooks n crannies. I didn't even prime!

Darn! I can't find the other pics right now. But I will. then you can see my pretty redo's!

Finally - I think...

Yay! I finally figured out how to fix the photo upload problem I as having! Now to play a little catch up! So I didn't get a whole lot done while I was away... but I have been working on one of those wingback chairs and as soon as I am done will post all the pics, before during and after! Yay!

My Lovely Pedestal

I love this thing!!!!!!!

I am not too fond of the chairs BUT its okay they came with the table and guess how much I paid for it?  $40.00!!!!! It came with four captains chairs which are not my style.. but they work fine for now as they are sturdy as heck, and guess what the whole set is ETHAN ALLEN.   =)  I am a happy happy girl.

This table is by Paula Deen. I absolutely LOVE her furniture. I am a big fan of ladderback chairs too. ::sigh::  so in love.

Black is Back!

okay so I had this dining table that I am trying to sell and I wasnt getting any takers as it was... soooooo I decided to paint it. It was already mostly black sooo it went all black. I only put four chairs in the pic but there are six total. Looks Awesome now.. I almost dont want to sell it BUT I finally got a pedestal table ( which I have been lusting after for some time now)... see pic on my next post.

So I bought this box at a thrift store for $2.12. Used some paint I had here at the house and it went from pic #1 to pic #4. All hand painted. I think it looks awesome, and so does the new owner, my lil Eve!  :)

busy busy!

been super busy and not able to post! i found a GREAT pedestal table with two extension leaves and four captains chairs on craigslist for $40.00!! it is sooo awesome, just needs a little tlc. also bought two ethan allen wingback chairs on cl for $15.00 each! of course they need to be reupholstered, but such a fantastic price I couldnt pass it up. lastly i bought a brass chandelier for $15 at an estate sale.... so much to do! I have been working on a few small projects as well.. remember the checker box? its halfway done! got to add some detail and then I will reveal the before after pictures! OOOO yeah! I found a gold floral frame at a thrift store for $7 that I am also in the process of transforming for my daughters room! It is going to be sooo cute! watch out for my next post!
